A Developmental Relationship-based Approach
DIR®-SM was developed out of a need to address the complex profiles of children with Selective Mutism (SM). SM is more than “not talking”. It involves challenges with regulation, engagement, purposeful communication, and social problem-solving. Informed by the DIRFloortime® model, developed by Dr. Stanley Greenspan and Dr. Serena Wieder, DIR®-SM approaches assessment and treatment from a developmental, holistic perspective, supporting all individual differences and relationships.
